James collected the official No13 seeded driver award from the Autosport show on Saturday. It was presented to him by Formula 1 new boy, Paul Di Resta.
It was an amazing achievement for James in his first year in the KF3 class, as he was also the youngest driver in the competition.

James's latest triumph is his fantastic win in America.James won the Daytona Kartweek Manufacturer’s Cup at Daytona International Speedway between Christmas and New Year. He raced for an American team in the Komet Jr Lite class. There were over 650 entries for the meeting and 42 on the grid for the final. eKarting News published the following report by Keith Shampine at the WKA; “Merlin driver James Kellett surprised some onlookers Friday when he scored the Komet Jr Lite victory over three heavy hitters in the WKA junior ranks. Kellett fended off the best Man Cup has to offer in Kyle Kalish, Ashley Rogero, Joel Jens and Jake Craig for the triumph.

James finished 7th overall in the "Copa de Campeones" - Race of Champions - in Vendrell, Spain over the weekend.
PSR team boss, Piers Sexton commented; "This is the best I've ever seen James race. His determination and overtaking could have easily given him a podium place had he not started so far back in the final." James must now take this spirit and confidence into the next round of the Winter Series of Super1.

It didn’t take long before James was on the podium under the guidance of PSR. Having gained pole position in qualifying, James went on to win all three heats and the final. For the rest of 2011 and moving forward into 2012, James will be racing for PSR (Piers Sexton Racing) James has previously been under the guidance of Piers Sexton both during his cadet years with Ultimate Motorsport and more recently with Birel team, Prima Racing.
PSR is one of the most respected teams across the Karting world with success in both the UK and the rest of Europe. Team Manager Piers Sexton has many years of experience working with championship winning drivers.

James's latest fantastic achievement. He has been awarded the 'Yorkshire Children of Courage and Achievement Award 2011' for 'Sporting Achievement'. He was presented the award by Tanya Arnold, the sports presenter from BBC Look North, and celebrated his achievement with several sporting celebrities including Simon Grayson, the Leeds United Manager and Howard Webb MBE, the World Cup Referee.Well done James.

James had a fantastic result at the prestigious Kart Masters 2011 race meeting at the PFI kart circuit over the weekend. Having qualified 5th on Friday he was unfortunate not to have the same power in the finals, but he did however go on to finish a brilliant 9th overall on Sunday.

James Kellett signs for Intrepid UK in a shock move from Prima Racing. Having made a huge impact in such a short space of time in the KF3 Class, Intrepid UK owner and former Rotax World Champion Benjy Russell was keen to get Kellett on board for the start of the British Super 1 series. “I’ve had my eye on young James for a while, he’s a very talented driver with a lot of potential and will be a great asset to Intrepid UK” said Russel. James will start to test with Intrepid in the next few days.

James raised a few eyebrows at La Conca, Italy last weekend in his first ever KF3 race. By the end of the 5 day event he was fully on the pace of the front runners narrowly missing the A final by one place.

James has just arrived back in the UK after a gruelling two days testing in Lake Garda, Italy with Prima. "The testing went really well,”said James, "but I've been told to rest for the next few days as the grip levels out there put so much G-force on the body, I feel like I've been run over by a bus!"
Kellett Moves to KF3 with Prima & Birel Motorsport
Confirmed today, James Kellett has made the shock move to join the elite drivers in KF3 for 2011 with Prima.
After testing with Prima, it became apparent that James is ready to take on the challenge of the larger and more powerful class.
Jamie Croxford, Manager of Prima said " James is mentally and physically ready to move to KF3, and has more than proved on many occasions that he is a talented enough driver".
James will be run under the guidance of KF3 expert Piers Sexton, and hopes to follow the successful track record Piers has set to date.

James raced in the Nations Cup at La Conca, Italy, over the past four days. Unfortunately he had engine trouble and didn't start the final. He did however give the rest of the world a fright when he was 2sec's faster in the wet conditions during testing. "Oh how we prayed for rain"! Better luck next time son...

Kellett Makes History

James Kellett, now racing with the newly formed Prima racing team, achieved history at the weekend by winning the first ever UK Super Cadet race at PF International. Kellett dominated the track all weekend, consisting of some of the best drivers in the country, on the new TonyKart Super Cadet chassis. He won both heats and the pre-final and secured fastest laps in all races, then won the grand final by more than 4 seconds.
What an amazing achievement... Well done.
The Kelletts Join Prima

James Kellett has joined Prima Racing. James will race for Prima next season in the Super Cadet class competing in Europe and England.
The Prima team is managed by ex-European driver Jamie Croxford, who said, "I've always wanted James to race with us. He is a terrific driver and very experienced and will take the team forward".
James's father, Lee will also be working with Prima helping out with the Comer Cadet side of things.

W Plate Hat-trick & New Lap Record

James was in fine form this weekend as he won the prestigious South Yorksire Kart Club 'W' Plate for the 3rd consecutive year. Having won all of his 3 heats and setting the fastest lap in all, James went into the final comfortably on pole position. As the race got under way, James quickly out-paced the rest of the pack to take an early lead of more than 2 seconds. After 12 laps he finally crossed the line and took the chequered flag, punching the air in pure ecstasy! Added to this, to top it all, James broke his own lap record at the club. That now stands at 38.20sec's - Brilliant!

Podium at Rowrah

James gained a podium place in wet conditions at Rowrah on Sunday by finishing 2nd in a nail biting final race of the day. Having qualified 2nd on the grid for the final, James took an early lead from number 5 seed Max Vaughan and stayed there for the next five laps. Vaughan worked well over the next few laps to re-gain the lead with James hot on his tail. This was a great achievement as it was only James's 3rd race at the circuit.

It's now official...
In 2010 James will be racing for the famous ZIP Kart Team. Team Manager Darren Gibbs said; "It will be a great pleasure to be working with James next year, he's a real talent for the future." ZIP Kart are the team that introduced Lewis Hamilton to F1.
James will start testing with the team in January ready for the MSA British Championship commencing in March.

James Kellett has set a new lap record at the Durham & Yorkshire kart club on Sunday.
Travelling to the Middlesbrough circuit for the first time filled James with a bit of uncertainty, but he soon settled into his rhythm, eventually going on to finish 2nd in the grand final.
The new lap record now stands at 48.87 sec's

James put in his best performance to date at the weekend under the watchful eye of his new team Ultimate Motorsport www.ultimatekarting.co.uk . The team was very pleased with the way James drove to victory in blistering heat conditions, beating off stiff competition from Toby Sowery, Tom Harvey and Greg Mckenzie. James took the chequered flag in style.

James wins "W" plate for the second year running at the South Yorkshire Kart Club on Sunday.
James started off the day in fine form winning all 3 heats and the final and setting the fastest lap in all. James said afterwords; " The kart was handling perfectly thanks to dad's setup and I'ld like to thank my engine builder John Davis at Force Motorsport because my engines were just awesome"
James will be in action next week at Glan-Y-Gors in the FKS British Championships.
Kellett Claims Victory at PFI
James claimed a fantastic win at Trent Valley Kart Club this weekend. He tailed Vanderpump for 13 of the 14 laps in total control, assessing every inch of the track and working out where Vanderpump's weak points were. James made his move on the last lap confidently outbreaking Vanderpump into turn 2 and pulled away significantly with only 2 further turns to complete. He took the chequered flag in sheer style. Text book racing. Well done James!
Kellett Joins ULTIMATE
James has just been accepted to join the Ultimate Motosport Team for 2009.
The Ultimate Academy program is unique in allowing drivers and thier mechanics to progress through a recognised route to Formula 1 within the structure of the same team.

Christmas Comes Early For Kellett

Having won last month in monsoon conditions, Kellett felt confident he would carry his winning streak on into the Festive Season. He did just that with some fantastic driving skills at the South Yorkshire Kart Club on Sunday, out-performing his opposition in every heat. It was the final where he showed his real pace and skill, not only winning it but setting the fastest lap of the day including the quicker WTPs.

James Kellett took the lap record at the SYKC meeting with a time of 38.34 seconds. The Wombwell final was a close fought race - the front row saw Brandon Hunt on Pole with James Kellett alongside, both drivers using Kartal W60 engines - Brandon took the win but James broke the lap record.

It’s Official, James Kellett has set a new lap record at the South Yorkshire Track this weekend. Although finishing 2nd in the final race of the day, setting the fastest lap in the club's history in Comer Cadet was by far the highlight of the day.

Tough at The Top

Having started 13th in heat one and finishing 4th, James was on top form for what should have been a great weekends racing at the 3-Sisters Race Circuit, until disaster struck in heat 2 following a non start. Heat 3 wasn't much better as James fell further behind starting from 4th and finishing 9th. James's grid position for the Final was off 13 but due to too much grip and the Kart not performing correctly, he finished 11th.
Just goes to show... Some you win - Some you lose!

Congratulations go to Brandon Hunt and James Kellett on securing a 1st and 2nd in Comer Cadet at Wombwell over the weekend. The annual Cock O' the North meeting attracted a strong entry but Brandon and James were able to enjoy a good competitive race and upheld local honours as both are regulars at SYKC meetings. James had secured pole for the final whilst Brandon had the number 2 grid position.
Brandon and James both use Kartal Motorsport for their Race Engines preparing.

James Kellett won all 3 heats and the final at Wombwell's July meeting, reinforcing his recent win at Wombwell when he took the "W" plate. He also won a recent meeting at the 3 Sisters track at Wigan and dominated timed qualifying at the Ace of Clubs meeting at Whilton Mill - taking pole.

James Wins from 6th Place at Wigan

James takes victory at the famous 3-Sisiters race circuit, Wigan. Having had carboration problems throughout the day, James had to start from 6th on the grid in the final. The first 3 laps saw James move into 4th and by lap 8 he had taken the lead from the more experienced Seb Morris. Pictured is James coming over the line 0.05secs in front of Morris. Fantastic sportsmanship too...

James wins the 'W' Plate at SYKC. This prestigious event is in memory of Brian Wilson, father of Karting World Champion Mike Wilson. James won all 3 heats and the final, setting the fastest lap in all. James then went on to win "Driver of The Day" presented by Mike's mother Eileen Wilson. 1st in Last Round at Fulbeck

James ended the winning streak of Fulbeck Comer Cadet champion Stephen Letts in what was a fantastic final round of the season at the Lincolnshire Kart Circuit on Sunday.
James started the final from 2nd on the grid, and after a battle with the other drivers fighting it out for turn one, came out in 5th place. He then started picking off the pack one at a time. Letts by this time was driving away, until lap 6, when James started to reel him in, and with 2 laps to go finaly caught him. With a smart move down the inside he passed him into the tight hammerhead. James hung on for the rest of the lap to take the chequered flag and set the day's lap record...
Mum & Dad Seize Opportunity...
James's parents, Lee & Julie Kellett are now co-owners of Raceway Karting Ltd, an indoor kart racing circuit based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
They said, we need to give James the best possible chance of getting into Motorsport and this is the best way of doing it, along with a second business investment.
